These are photos shared by our customer of their feeder setups. Some use the basic setup with the custom designed Super Feeder® Stand/Bowl with or without a hopper. Some mount the feeder to objects such as a cat tree, or custom build their own set up.

Happy to have something I can use for home automation without the use of proprietary software and doesn’t require giving all my WiFi login information to god knows what company in China. I put a $15 raspberry pi zero and relay module on the back of mine and now it feeds my cats and sends me a text message confirmation twice a day. All with open source software. Furthermore the design uses a ton of screws to assemble which work as great attachment points for 3d printed add ons. All in all it’s a nice product for DIY/makers who want an automation solution that’s more reliable than something totally from scratch but still flexible enough to allow for extensive customization.

Close up of cat feeder
I have used several different automatic feeders in the past and none of them were capable of doing what I needed them to do for this cat. After talking with Super Feeder, I thought this was going to be the right feeder for my cat, Glitch. Glitch eats a small amount of food (2 TBS), several times a day. This feeder does the trick! First, you are able to control the size of the food slot to account for different food morsel sizes. Second, the internal device timer (Feed Timer) controls the length of time the motor is activated to dispense the food, whereas the external timer (Schedule Timer) is used to activate the internal timer and the Schedule Timer stays on at least as long as the Feed Timer needs to run so that the motor receives power! Having the Feed Timer separate from the Schedule Timer was the combination I needed. And the Schedule Timer can be any type of timer or switch. As my house is already set-up with a Smartthings hub and Alexa accessories, I was able to use one of my existing smart outlets as the Schedule Timer. I can set a routine for the feeder, turn on the outlet remotely from my Smartthings App, or tell Alexa to turn on the outlet. Setting the internal Feeder Timer with the proper food slot adjustment allows me to control the amount of food dispensed. After the Feeder Timer completes dispensing food, I just schedule the outlet (Schedule Timer) to turn off to reset the Internal Feeder Timer. Is it an exact portion every time? I haven't measured it each time, but it was fairly consistent and at least as consistent as I was with the measuring scoop. I must say well done Super Feeder! And I think Glitch now worships the feeder! I think I see a second one in my future for my friendly feral, now inside downstairs cat, Clarey.

Says Steven, "Attached is the hopper/holder feeder tray I built. Aside from a few screws, rivets and a block of wood the only material I used is the square buckets and lids I get my kitty litter in. It was a fun project."

Close-up of the feeder to "catch basin" connection (picture 1). I used a 4" PVC coupler, combined with a 4" to 2" converter to get a good funnel shape, then a 45 elbow to get a good slope for the food to move down. I used 2" vacuum duct from Home Depot. The key piece was the Broan-Nutone 3-way Elbow Y (model V125): https://www.homedepot.ca/product/3-way-elbow-y/964194
Everything is secured with either cable ties or screws - no glue. That way I can disassemble and wash the parts regularly. (Picture 2)
Here it is in it's final location - tucked beside the wine cabinet. The diagonal tube across the front isn't screwed, so it's easy to access the wine bottles behind. (picture 3)
