You can purchase items separately or you can purchase one of our combo deals. Here is a visual breakdown of the Super Feeder components. First there is the basic Super Feeder unit that comes with 1 clear extension, lid, "Moisture Trap™" funnel, a power adapter and all hardware that is needed. It also comes with a printed manual. (Manuals are also on this website) You can choose to add an additional clear extension for more food storage. Then choose your controller. You can use your choice of timer or wi-fi plug to control your automatic feeder from your phone. You can purchase these from us or you can use any timer or smart plug that you already own.

All ASF-1 aquarium model automatic feeders are designed to be installed on top of the aquarium or a shelf at the side, not hung on the side over open water (like most feeders). Our feeders allow you to keep the top of your aquarium covered which in turn keeps evaporation down and moisture away from feeder as well as helping to keep your fish in the aquarium where they belong. The base model holds 3/4 cup of flakes and or pellets, which can be increased with its supplied 2-cup hopper extension for your extended absence or if you have large fish. You can even buy additional extensions or other accessories to make it a cat feeder, pond feeder, or anything else, if you do away with your aquarium! Base model is 7" long x 3-1/4" wide x 4-7/8" tall. The hopper extension is 3.9" tall. The Super Feeder will dispense flakes, fish stick, dry shrimp, crumbles, pellets up to 1/2", and more.
Flexible Power & Control Options
The simplest way to operate your Super Feeder is with any inexpensive plug-in timer or Wi-Fi smart plug (included in combo deals). Unlike cloud-based systems, the feeder itself does not require Wi-Fi, apps, or subscriptions to operate. The timer simply powers and triggers the feeder at your scheduled times.
For advanced automation, a home automation system such as an X-10™ setup can also be used. If you do not already own a timer, Wi-Fi plug, or timer/transformer, we stock a wide selection of digital, analog and DC timers, as well as Wi-Fi smart plugs to match your setup.
How Feeding Cycles Work
The feeder uses a two-stage timing system for maximum flexibility and precision.
An external timer, smart plug, or control system powers and triggers the feeder at programmed times throughout the day. The feeder’s own built-in electronic timer then determines exactly how long the feeding cycle runs -no batteries required.
You pre-adjust the feeder’s internal timer to set the feed duration for each cycle. Once triggered, the feeder dispenses food for the exact run time you selected, completely independent of how long the external timer remains ON.
Depending on the external timer used, the feeder can operate anywhere from 1 to 72+ feeding cycles per day. While optional battery/timer systems are available, standard AC-powered setups are generally recommended whenever possible. See our portion adjustment page.
Precise Food Output Control
Each feeder includes an electronic adjustment and reset switch for initial setup and calibration. A green LED status light indicates when the feeder is powered and ready to operate.
- Food output is controlled in two ways:
- Run Time Adjustment – determines how long the feeder dispenses food (from a split second up to approximately 70 seconds).
- Mechanical Volume Adjustment - fine-tunes how much food is dispensed during that run time.
Unique ASF-1 Super Feeder Features
The advantage of the ASF-1 aquarium Super Feeder is that food exits out of a side chute, not out of the bottom (like most other feeders) where moisture can (and will!) enter the feeder and contaminate the food, especially flakes when used on an aquarium. Don't let feeders with air lines or similar gadgets fool you! Have you ever seen what is created with forced air in a humid environment? MOISTURE!! Our aquarium feeders will reliably deliver flake food with our patented "Moisture Trap®" funnel. The funnel does NOT attache to the feeder. The feeder's chute is placed next to the edge of the funnel's opening, not over it, so that the neck of the funnel remains in the open air. Furthermore, our system stirs the food inside the hopper at each feeding cycle to keep it from clumping together.
Perhaps one of the most important features of our aquarium feeders is our patented rectangular "Moisture Trap®" funnel mentioned above. The special "Moisture Trap®" funnel effectively keeps excessive moisture away from the feeder's food reservoir, as well as providing a means of distributing the food without spills.The lower wider end of the funnel is trimmed so that it penetrates the water level by about 1/2 inch. The funnel allows complete closure of the top of the tank, sealing the moisture under the cover where it belongs. Bubbles break up around the outside of the funnel, not inside to cause flake food to stick and clog it up. Each aquarium feeder comes with one funnel. That funnel is not always required, but if used, we guarantee dependable flake distribution for unlimited time.
